Got the first date jitters?

If this is your first time going out on a date with a Latina, you’ve every reason to have them.

There’s a huge difference between chatting online and actually dating in person. Online, you get to hide behind a screen and think of a strategic way to respond. You rarely get a second chance if you make an error in real life.

Mistakes make you look more human and approachable to your date. Still, you want to give your date the best impression of yourself.

So in order to avoid making a blunder in real life, here’s a checklist of what you should do before and during your date.

Groom yourself

Women love it when men make an effort to look good. You don’t have to be a model to impress her, you just have to make yourself presentable.

It’s no different from your everyday grooming: taking a shower, brushing your hair, skincare, and deodorant. If you have a cologne stashed for special occasions, don’t be afraid to use it!

When choosing your clothes, always make sure they are well pressed and stain-free. This is a date — not a trip to the grocery store.

Arrive on time, much better if earlier

This one is a no-brainer, but it pays to show how much you value your date’s time by simply being early.

Don’t worry about looking too eager. Latinas are more likely to see this as a sign of chivalry. Besides, you get to spend more time with each other. Provided that you are punctual, of course.

Be confident

It is always fun to hang around with a confident person who can smoothly crack jokes. Don’t try too hard to impress her — girls like humble guys. You wouldn’t want to toe the line of being TOO confident.

True confidence needs no explanation. You can be as silently confident as you want and still impress a lady.

Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Keeping up a fake persona is mentally exhausting and it won’t be long until your date calls your bluff. Girls are smart — they can see if you’re a try-hard in a matter of seconds.

Be true to yourself and good things will follow.

Make her feel comfortable

Don’t concern yourself with how you’re going to appear or sound cool. Instead, think about ways you can make her feel comfortable. This will help you focus on something other than your own nervousness.

Conversations will flow much smoother when both of you aren’t nervous. You will have an easier time winning the trust and respect of a Latina if you are accommodating.

Treat waiters and customer service staff with respect

A universal dealbreaker among women is when men don’t treat customer service staff with respect.

It’s fairly easy to show some basic manners. When talking to a waiter, never forget to say please and thank you. Remember: respect begets respect. You will have a much better dining experience if you are polite to the staff.

If your Latina date sees you respecting everyone, she will be reassured that you will treat her right. Don’t pretend to be nice for the sake of appearances. Regardless of whether you are on a date or not, you should always make it a habit to be polite.

Give her the chance to talk

You shouldn’t talk too much about yourself on a date. Both of you should have equal control in the conversation. If you do talk about yourself, make sure that you are saying something worthwhile.

Take the time to learn about their interests, hobbies, favorite books, or music choices. That way, you can find out if you have anything in common to keep the conversation going.

Always actively listen to what she is saying. Hang on to her every word whenever she talks about her personal life. Latinas are very honest and upfront people. When they open up to you, make sure you give her your undivided attention.

Are you familiar with the 20 questions game? Try to get your date to play along. This makes the conversation much more fun and engaging.

Read between the lines

Many guys seem to have a great deal of trouble with this one. A girl will make it obvious via body language if it’s appropriate to touch her leg, hold her hand, or make any other sort of physical advance.

Latinas are tactile — so if they really like you, they will initiate physical contact. Reciprocate just as much affection as she is giving. You wouldn’t want to cross over her boundaries.

Find something to compliment her about

Whenever you are given the chance, find something that you can compliment her on. Complimenting her will make her feel good about herself and think positively about you.

It’s essential that your compliment does not come across as too cheesy. It is your first meeting and coming on too strong will only intimidate her.

You wouldn’t want to go overboard — a simple compliment is more than enough.

Never speak ill of anyone

How you speak of others reflects who you are as a person. When you speak of others in a positive light, your date will unconsciously associate them with you.

It’s also a no-no to speak of past relationships. This makes it seem like you aren’t really over it. What’s more, this can make your date feel like a rebound.

Don’t forget to enjoy your date!

Keep your first date light, fun, and romantic. You can’t go wrong with dinner at a casual restaurant or sightseeing. Both activities allow you ample opportunities to talk and get to know each other. You’re not proposing to her, so there’s no need to go overboard with the venue

Don’t worry too much about messing it up. Focus on having fun and enjoying yourself. Give a Latina the royal treatment and you will be rewarded with love and care.
